Naming the feeling out loud, instead of rushing past it, helps it feel smaller almost right away.
In their story, a character feels that same knot in their stomach when someone they love has to go, and finds a small goodbye ritual that makes leaving feel less scary.
By the end, the reunion feels calm and expected, and your child gets to see a character manage on their own for a while, and come through just fine.
