Privacy Policy

Draft, pending legal review. Last updated July 6, 2026.

1. What information we collect

When you use Say This Today, you (as a parent, guardian, or teacher) provide information about a child in order to generate a personalized story: a first name, an age or age range, and a short description of a theme or challenge. You also provide your own email address for account and order communication, and, for purchases, payment information handled entirely by our payment processor (we never see or store your full card number).

We also automatically collect standard technical information (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and fraud prevention, and, where you’ve given consent, for analytics.

2. Children’s information

Say This Todayis intended to be used by an adult on behalf of a child. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children, and we do not require or request more identifying information about a child than is needed to write their story (typically just a first name and age). If you are a teacher submitting information about a student, you are responsible for complying with your school’s policies and any consent required from a parent or guardian before doing so.

3. How we use your information

We use the information you provide to generate the story you’ve requested, to process payment and send order confirmations, and to send you the story itself, a preview link, or a receipt. If you started but didn’t finish a purchase, we may send a limited cart-recovery sequence, which you can opt out of at any time. With your consent for analytics and marketing cookies, we also use this information to improve the product (see Cookies, below).

4. Who we share information with

We use a small number of service providers (“processors”) to operate Say This Today, each of which only receives the information needed to perform their function:

These include a database and authentication provider, to store submissions and accounts; a payment processor, to handle checkout; an AI provider, to generate story text from the details you provide; and an email delivery provider, to send transactional and order-related email. Analytics providers only receive information after you consent to analytics cookies.

We do not sell your information or a child’s information to third parties.

5. Data retention

Story submissions that are never completed or paid for are automatically deleted after a limited period. Purchased stories and account information are retained for as long as your account is active, or as needed to comply with our legal obligations (e.g., financial records for tax purposes).

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the address on our About page. If you are in the European Economic Area or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies to operate the site (for example, to remember your story-in-progress). Analytics and advertising cookies (such as Google Analytics or Meta Pixel) are only loaded after you accept them in our cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time.

8. International transfers

Our service providers may process data outside your country of residence. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.

9. Changes to this policy

We’ll update the “last updated” date above if this policy changes, and post the updated version here.

10. Contact

Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to the contact address listed on our About page.
